Travel/Vacation ideas

Postby upsidown » Thu Jan 28, 2010 6:15 pm

So I just discovered that I have about 5 days of vacation that I have to take before March 31 or I will lose them. I was thinking of going to Germany to visit my family near Frankfurt, but the tickets from Boston are an outrageous $800/apiece. (For mid-week travel. On economy. I called several airlines and had them price multiple things and that was the lowest.) I would have been willing to spend about $500, but $800 is out of the question.

But I still have to take those days. I could do a basic staycation, but I think that would result in me planning a lot and doing very little all week.Does anyone have any suggestions on ideas for what I should do with myself?

Try searching expedia's deals and destinations. You can search for pure air flight price deals or for package prices.

http://www.expedia.com/daily/vacations/ ... frr=-53303

You can get a flight + 5 nights hotel in Beijing for 816+ dollars or Shanghai for 812$-885$ (not sure if it'd be true for Boston origin).

Mexico air plus 4 nights hotel would be between 350 and 800.

Anyway, if all else fails have you spent any time in Canada? Or is there any place in the US that you'd like to visit?

http://www.airfarewatchdog.com/

Airfare watchdog has a search by city of departure function. Madrid for $520, Cancun for $245, etc all from Boston.

Enjoy, I'm jealous of your vacation time!
